UCLA is a campus full of diverse events, art exhibitions, and speakers. Here are some upcoming events that FEM’s Campus Life staff is looking forward to!
- “Title M(ix)ne: Sexual Violence Town Hall”
- “The Bruin Consent Coalition and the USAC Office of the President invite you to a discussion on the topic of sexual violence and sexual harassment with UCLA students, workers, and administrators. This event is open to all members of the UCLA community, and will begin with a panel of representatives from Title IX + CARE and sexual violence experts, followed by an open discussion with questions submitted by the audience. “

- “The Urgency for Central American Studies at UCLA”
- “A panel discussing the urgency Central American Studies at UCLA with panelists Dr. Karina Alma (Professor, Chicano/a Studies), Dr. Juan Herrera (Professor, Geography), Carlos Rivas (PhD Candidate, Art History), and Briana Rodriguez (MA Candidate, Education).”

- “Mixed in the Media”
- Hosted by the Mixed Student Union at UCLA, this event focuses on actors in the entertainment industry such as Chloe Bennet, Rashida Jones, and Keanu Reeves and how “their mixedness is portrayed.” The dialogue will be focusing on questions such as: “Mixed people exist in Hollywood, so where are they? What kinds of roles do they portray, and how do they manage their identities there?”

- “LatinX Professional Business Panel”
- “This past year, students at UCLA noticed a significant lack of diversity in finance, accounting, marketing and other business-related fields. Aiming to increase knowledge about the available opportunities in business, the ALPFA UCLA chapter was created. With this event, we hope to inform Latinx people and other minorities of the opportunities available to them.”

- “Lean in UC: UC Women’s Leadership Conference 2019”
- The conference is a “renewed commitment to the vision of the women who have come before us – and to a transgenerational network of empowered femme leadership.” It will include keynote addresses by politicians, entertainers, and professionals, as well as panels addressing feminism and the #MeToo movement, focusing on inclusion and intersectionality.”

- “Homelessness Awareness Week 2019”
- A week of art, social justice, and awareness surrounding issues of food and housing insecurity. Events include:
- “Homelessness Awareness Fair”
- “Learn more about campus organizations and their missions pertaining to homelessness.”

- “Hunger Banquet”
- “Join Hunger Project in food, speakers, and discussion around the stigmas of homelessness.”

- “Art from the Homeless Exhibit”
- “Experience the narratives of homeless individuals through different visual media.”

- “Deliver resources to individuals in the Westwood homeless population.”

- “Make sandwiches with Swipe Out Hunger and learn more about food insecurity.”

- “Make blankets to donate to homeless individuals in LA with Bruin Shelter and the Hill.”

- “Self-Care for Activists”
- “This workshop will provide a restorative space for student activists to explore their relationship to rest through trauma-informed yoga, meditation, journaling and dialogue.”
