Republicans are turning out to be creative geniuses in finding new ways to offend women and minorities. New Hampshire State Rep. Steve Vaillancourt (R) caused a lot of controversy last week by calling Rep. Anne McLane Kuster (D) “ugly as sin.” In his lengthy blog post, Vaillancourt compared Kuster to a “drag queen” and asserted that Kuster’s Republican challenger Marlinda Garcia, who is “truly attractive,” will most likely win the November election, since “looks matter in politics.”

Keep in mind that this man is a lawmaker, as in someone who makes laws concerning women and other human beings. Taking his theory of “looks matter” as fact, I wonder how Vaillancourt explains his own election into Congress.
